Training and Creativity Overview

We shall not cease from exploring..

We offer nationally accredited Training Courses to meet local needs.  Most of our courses are presented on a multidisciplinary basis with two trainers, materials being provided by e-mail in advance to provide maximum opportunity for discussion and development on the day.  Our annual training courses include an Annual Update of Law and Mediation, an advanced training course with Lisa Parkinson or other internationally recognised trainer, and a more reflective, arts based day or weekend. In addition, we offer Mediation Awarenes seminars for local lawyers, Judges, and others involved in the family justice system. Neil Robinson is also a trainer on the FMA Mediation Foundation Courses, and has run workshops and training for the DCA, JSB, and for Resolution.

All our courses are accredited by the Law Society and the UK College of Family Mediators, and provide CPD points.

Whilst we trust that our courses are of the highest standard, we do not aim to compete with our national training provider colleagues at ADR/FMA;  their current training programme will be found at http://www.adrgroup.co.uk/training/training-intro.htm'

We welcome suggestions as to future courses and events

Training Aims

1.  To provide our mediators (and therefore our clients) with an assured quality of training and development, so that we can continue to push the quality of mediation.

2.  To give an opportunity for multi-disciplinary work, and in particular for Nowell Meller's lawyers and mediators to train and meet collaboratively.

3.  To provide training for colleagues, consultees and friends

4.  To retain TMC's high profile on the national stage.

Feedback from last year's courses

'A very thought provoking day - extremely useful for practice'

'The workshop was invaluable for practising mediators who feel unsettled with the strict orthodoxy and so can pool ideas for adapting the mediation model to better serve their clients.'

'A packed day with specific focus on legal update interspersed with more esoteric questions about mediation practice'

“A mediation masterclass”

'I found this course really useful.  I had felt for some time that mediation could be more flexible in dealing with varying circumstances but, until joining this well-led seminar, thought it was just my private view.  I hope that positive change can result from many mediators attending future workshops and pooling their ideas.'

Creativity

We believe that our mediation service is enhanced by the exploration of links with the creative arts.  As well as developing our teams and partnerships through singing and walking together, we have embarked upon what we hope to be a series of arts events exploring the connection between the creativity of mediation and the creative arts.  We hope to continually refresh and renew ourselves and the service. Our next Weekend of Mediation and the Arts is planned for 16-18 May 2008.

The selection of materials produced in response to this is spread throughout our website and in the next section of this website.
